Model T truck from his previous employer and Edward J. White Plumbing and Heating was
launched out of his residence.
By 1927 the business had outgrown his house so he sought a new business location. He
rented half of the building located at 1011 South Michigan Street, South Bend, where the
company still remains today.
In 1937 the owner of the property lost it due to the Depression and the bank suggested that Ed
buy the building since he was already renting the south half.
In 1945 the company became Edward J. White, Incorporated.
Since that time the company has continued to prosper and has purchased properties
surrounding the original building to allow for growth and expansion.
Four of Ed's five sons worked in the business at one time or another. Ed's son Paul is the
current owner and Ed's grandson Joe is the current President.
